Transfer Station: Potential Sites

As explained in the Siting Study, 180 potential sites were identified then screened using a number of criteria such as zoning, size and compatibility with neighboring land uses.

Winzler & Kelly reviewed the Siting Study and visited the sites then prepared the Preliminary Site Analysis. They suggested consolidating some of the smaller sites into larger sites and ranked them in accordance with a number of criteria such as availability, site access and geometry. The Elk Grove City Council received a staff report based on the Siting Study and the Preliminary Site Analysis at their February 13th meeting. They directed staff to continue studying two sites and to make a presentation at a later meeting. At the City Council’s May 14th meeting the staff brought forth two additional sites for consideration. The City Council directed staff to proceed with the EIR evaluation of two of the sites shown below.
